Regional Director-Steve Cobb
Welcome to everyone and it is great to see everyone at the 2007 meeting. I wish everyone the best success at the 2007 Regional Championship. I would like to thank our judge, Elmar Maness, for coming to the U.S. and judging our regionals. Thanks to Lynn Simpson for organizing the track laying and thanks to the track layers. Thanks to all the helpers. Thank you Lone Star Schutzhund Club and Austin Schutzhund Club for hosting our regionals. Also, a big thank you to Triple Crown for allowing us to have our regionals here. Congratulations to Randall Hoadley for becoming the new Vice-President of USCA. Thanks to Michael Booker for taking the Asst. Regional Director job. Thanks to the board of the South Central Region for all their hard work.
Welcome to the two newest clubs, Ark-La-Tex Schutzhund Club and San Gabriel Hund Verein. Thanks to all clubs in our region. They do a wonderful job in supporting Schutzhund and bringing new members to the sport. Please keep up the hard work. The regional board would also like to send condolences to the Wayne Taylor family. His passing is a great loss to the sport and he will be greatly missed. Thank you for allowing me to be regional director. Good luck for this year and I hope everybody achieves all of your goals for this year.
Assistant Regional Director-Michael Booker
I appreciate the opportunity to serve as Asst. Regional Director. The good thing about this region is everybody works together even though we have our differences and when it comes crunch time, everybody pulls together. The people involved encourage growth thru helper seminars, by continuing the education of grooming new helpers. Thanks to Lone Star and Austin Schutzhund Clubs for having the regionals this year.
Regional Secretary-Betty Thomas
Thanks to everyone for all the help and encouragement that you have given me. I always feel welcomed at any event I attend. I was lucky enough to go to Nationals this year and I would encourage you to attend if any way possible. You will see great dogs and great handlers. We have many from our region competing. It is worth the trip.
Regional Treasurer-Marylee Grasso
Marylee sent an email. In 2006 we collected $550.00. $450 in club dues and $100.00 from Arturo’s helper seminar. We will pay John Carter $50.00 for the regional website hosting. Current cash balance as of today is $2571.00. Of that amount, $165.00 is donated to the Wayne Taylor Memorial fund. The donors were Dena McGowan, Austin Schutzhund Club, Danny and Julia Grayson, Carla Griffith. 2006 club dues were received from the following clubs: Ark-La-Tex., Austin SC, Buena Vista WDC, Central Texas SC, Coastal Bend SC, DFW Working Dogs, Greater Dallas WDC, Greater Houston SC, Greater New Orleans SC, Lone Star SC, OG North Texas SC, San Gabriel Hund Verein, Texas Working Dogs. Best Wishes and I hope everyone has a safe and fun regional championship.
Regional Breed Warden-Jennifer Aguilar
2006 saw progress over 2005 in the Conformation and Breed areas in the region. There were two shows and breed surveys as well as a Conformation Seminar. The 2006 Regional Sieger is a dog bred in our region.
Regional Breeders in the spotlight:
Mellodee Middleton, vom Germelhaus, breeder of Rocky vom Germelhaus owned and trained by Ricky Hagood, winner HOT Championship.
Donna Bovee, vom Fruhlingsbach, breeder, owner, trainer of Gipper vom Fruhlingsbach, placing fourth in the HOT Championship.
Bill Fleischer, vom Fleischerheim 2006 USA Sieger Show
V 10 Sergio vom Fleischerheim-Working males
V8 Sadie vom Fleischerheim-Working females
VP3 Kimon vom Fleischerheim-6-9 month males
Congratulations to these breeders, handlers and owners for their accomplishments.
Maren Friedhoff a Texas Working Dogs Club member has a dog that placed V2 in the BSZS in the HGH Class. She is working with a club that wants to form a HGH club here in the Region. We need to support their efforts and bring them into USA rather than see them form a WDA club.
I am asking for all clubs in the Region to show your support in any way that you can to the 2007 Regional Conformation Show that is scheduled in March. Lone Star Schutzhund Club has taken on both the Schutzhund and Conformation Regionals this year and is to be commended for their efforts.
Also, Dave Kroyer put Rasta on the FCI team.
Regional Training Director-Rob Dunn
First of all, I would like to say good luck to all the participants at this years Regional Championship. This has been another extremely successful year for our Region as a whole. I would like to congratulate all the members that had success with their dogs at the club, regional, national and international level this year. Congratulations go out to Randall Hoadley for becoming USA’s VP and earning his Judges license!
Congratulations go out to our new Regional Director Steve Cobb and Assistant Regional director Michael Booker. Some of our members did a fantastic job at the F.C.I. World Championships this year. Donna Bovee and Gipper, Clement Dang and Arkan, Ricky Hagood and Rocky and Dave Kroyer and Rasta. Congratulations Donna and Dave for representing USA and the SCR-we applaud your efforts! Clement and Ricky were slotted to go as well, but could not due to other commitments. Congratulations to Dave Kroyer and Rasta on being the 2006 SCR Regional Champions and for their 2 nd placed finish at the AWDF championship. Our region dominated this years HOT tournament with the winner being Ricky Hagood and Rocky, third place Clement Dang and Arkan and fourth place Donna Bovee and Gipper and the youth champion Drake Freeman and Eva. Congratulationhs to all of you! We had five members compete and do a fine job representing our region at this years USA Nationals in Alabama. Competitors were Donna Bovee, Clement Dang, Rob Dunn, Ricky Hagood, and Dave Kroyer.
I welcome San Gabriel as the newest club in our Region, congratulations to you. I would like to thank all of the clubs that hosted Helper Seminars and to all the newly certified helpers in our region. SCR had a strong showing at the National Helper Seminar with four of our teaching helpers present. Arturo Barajas, Danny Grayson, who is on the National Helper committee, Randall Hoadley and myself. Without helpers we would not be able to participate in the sport we all love. A big thanks to all of the handlers that brought out their dogs for the helpers to practice on, we are truly grateful.
This years Regional Training Seminar was hosted by Lone Star Schutzhund Club and was conducted by Mr. Gottfried Dildei. I would like to thank everyone that came out to support our region at this event. Although Gottfried was a little under the weather we all enjoyed the seminar and picked up a few pointers along the way. We look forward to the 2007 Regional Breed Show and Survey, so come out, show your dog, support our region, and have some fun!
In closing, I would like to say a big Thank You to all of our members, WHAT A YEAR! With all of the accomplishments, I apologize if I accidentally left anyone out. I truly believe we have a special region. This shows not only at the big events, but the incredible amount of fun that we all have at the local club trials. Keeping a club up and running is a very difficult task and it takes ALL of the members to do so. Hats off to all of you and I wish you the very best of luck in 2007.

club field. What is the rule? I would like to make a motion that the event must be held on something USA would recognize as a trial facility whether it be a stadium, a soccer field or the front room of Triple Crown.
Would like clarification on what USA recognizes as an event field for a regional or national championship. This motion puts you in a no win situation that now we have voted you don’t have to have it on a neutral field. Laurie states regional director has always approved field for regional championship and doesn’t understand motion. Motion dies due to lack of second.
