South Louisiana has been moved to affiliate status because they have
not fulfilled the requirements to stay a full member club of USCA. A
trial has to be held once a year.
They have not had one for two years. USCA wouldn't approve a waiver
this time. They will automatically be moved to affiliate status.
Sixty-nine percent of our clubs are present and that is enough for a
quorum.
APPROVAL OF PREVIOUS MINUTES:
Motion made by Dena McGowan to accept 2005 Regional meeting minutes
as is.
Second by Rita Ledda. Motion passes unanimously.
Special Rules of Order:
Discussion limited to 3 minutes per delegate. Must be a club delegate

OFFICERS' REPORTS:
Regional Director-Randall L. Hoadley
I would like to start by saying what a year for the SCR. We have members
participating at Club, Regional and National levels. We even had a few
make it to the worlds. Congratulations to everyone participating at
the
2006 Regionals. I am very proud to be apprenticing and I enjoy it. Thanks
to Dieter Schmale for being our judge. Welcome, also, to his wife. We
have a new club in our region, Red River Schutzhund Club. They have
done
an outstanding job. As of this time, they have hosted two club trials
and
a USA helper seminar. They have helped other clubs to meet their
requirements. I would like to welcome them at this time. In the near
future, a new club will be formed by Steve Cobb. Welcome to Alvin Clemmons
who is stepping into the apprenticeship program very shortly. Sunday
will
bring to us the stadium work. I wish all of you including the helpers
at
this trial a lot of success. You have worked hard to get here and
represent yourself and your club as a team. I would like to thank DFW
for
hosting the 2006 SCR Championship. They are doing an excellent job in
maintaining good sportsmanship for all competitiors. They have provided
excellent tracking, an excellent stadium, and an excellent judge.
Assistant Regional Director-Steve Cobb
No report.
Regional Secretary-Betty Thomas
No report. The SCR Web site is back up and running per Randall.
Regional Treasurer-Marylee Grasso
In 2005, the SCR received a total of $925.00 which was made up of the
following:
Annual club dues: $550.00
Donation from Lone Star Schutzhund Club(workshop): $355.00
SCR web site advertisement: $20.00
During 2005, the SCR spent $199.50. Of that amount, $49.50 was spent
for
web site hosting, and $150 was paid to the IRS with the SCR's application
for exemption from federal income tax. The application for tax exempt
status was submitted to the IRS, and we are waiting for their reply.
At December 31, 2005, the SCR's checking account balance was $1506.00.
Some officers have declined to be reimbursed for travel expenses, and
have
expressed an interest in using the funds to hold educational opportunities
for the region.
Regional Breed Warden-Jennifer Aguilar
I would like to congratulate all participants from our Region on their
2005
successes in local, regional, and national events. Particular
congratulations go to Mellodee Middleton, vom Germelhaus, for her success
in breeding dogs that are participating at Regional and National level
events. Also Laurie Tollifson, von der Dornburg, with a male from her
breeding qualifying and participating at the Regional level in Germany.
Lone Star Schutzhund Club held the Region's only Conformation Show in
2005.
The event was very well run with 50 dogs participating in the show and 23
in the Breed Survey. A big thank you to Laurie, Betty, Rita and all
members of other clubs that helped in the event.
United Schutzhund Clubs of America 2005 National Conformation Show held
in
Carson City was well supported by the South Central Region. Helping at the
Show were Rita, Rene, Hilde, and Jennifer.
The 2005 South Central Region Conformation Show was unable to be held due
to the hurricanes, Katrina and Rita, as well as the judge canceling.
We are looking forward to the 2006 Regional Show that will be held in the
fall. Texas Working Dogs will be having a show, breed survey and seminar,
details to be announced soon. I would like to encourage each of the clubs
to attempt to schedule a conformation show for 2006. I do have a group of
people that are willing to help. Just let us know where and when.
The United Schutzhund Clubs of America, 2006 National Conformation Show
will be held in Connecticut, April 21st-23rd.
Regional Training Director-Rob Dunn
This has been an extremely successful year for our Region. I would like
to
congratulate all the members that had success with their dogs at the
club,
regional, national, and international level this year. I also want to
congratulate all of the members that participated in the breed show
and
survey.
We had several helper seminars this year with a lot of familiar faces
and
also a few new faces. A two-day helper seminar was hosted by DFW in
which
Randall Hoadley, Danny Grayson, and myself taught a group of new helpers.
This seminar was very successful and it was great to see some new faces
and
the amazing progress that was made in just one weekend.
Lone Star Schutzhnd Club hosted a one-day obedience seminar taught by
Jessy
Gabriel. Jessy went over the importance of event markers, jumping
techniques, attention and more! At the same time the club hosted a one-day
Helper seminar. We had all four of our regions teaching helpers available
to lend a helping hand! The very next day, a fun match was organized
and
we ran many dogs and handlers through their paces. All of the
proceeds($320) were donated to the region and all had a good time. I
would like to thank everybody that came out to donate his or her time
to
make that weekend a big hit!
Austin Schutzhund Club hosted a one-day Helper seminar and evaluation,
taught by Danny Grayson in conjunction with their trial. Congratulations
to all of the helpers that participated, your hard work paid off and
we
look forward to seeing you on the trial field in 2006!
Congratulations to Randall on his apprentice judging. He has been doing
an
excellent job. Also, the event has been outstanding: the catalog, the
maps, the time schedule, and the overall organization is great. Thanks
to
DFW and to Chris. Congratulations to all competitors.
In closing, I would like to say a big Thank You to all of our members.
I
truly believe we have a special region. This shows not only at the big
events, but the incredible amount of fun that we all have at the local
club
trials. Keeping a club up and running is a very difficult task and it
takes
ALL of the members to do so. Hats off to all of you and I wish you the
very best of luck in 2006!-Rob Dunn
