2005 SOUTH CENTRAL REGIONAL MEETING MINUTES

Regional Meeting February 26, 2005

5:30 p.m. Call to order per Regional Director Julia Grayson.

Roll Call

Julia Grayson thanks Judge and his wife. Hopes that teaching helpers are running by May 2005. In the previous months have been offering helper training and asks for support. Likes having education day on Friday and would like to continue it.

REGIONAL DIRECTORS REPORT: Over the last 4 years have seen progress, club size the same but sees more participation. During the regional meeting, please think about how to support future Regional Director. Thanks to track layers, wish helpers luck tomorrow (Charles and Randall). Thanks to ladies in the club for T-shirts. Thanks to Danny Grayson for support while in office. Thanks to everyone for support.

REGIONAL DIRECTORS FUND: Didn’t spend any money.

CLUB REPORTS:

Austin SchH Club: Had a fun year, lots of young dogs, Alvin got into SchH3 club, Sonny got a SchH1, Richard Atkins competed at Nationals, HOT and asked to be on FCI team; fun when we get together for a weekend.

Bayou SchH Club: Young dogs, no helper at this time; thanks to Dallas Club for help, got a couple of BH’s, Joe in Iraq, have a couple new members.

Buena Vista: One trial in December, small club but active; 4-BH’s, 1-SchH1 and SchH2, 3 KK1, Cora’s 4th SchH3 and FH.

Central Texas: Members spread out, got BH, AD, show rating, no helper to go to SchH titles.

DFW Working Dogs: Successful year, proud of group, 25 titles on dogs, USRC competing, train for positive/negative, clicker training. Rob/Jesse put on seminar, Rinus for seminar. Next year might be slow due to young dogs. Eighty-four titles in past 5 years, lost a copule of members and miss them.

Greater Dallas: One member showed at World, Kathy May got her BH and have young dogs.

Greater Houston: Two members failed BH under Griff, Charles passed BH, Dena not allowed on field. Having good training sessions. Back again with a conformation dog.

Lone Star: Had a lot of fun, have to buy a catalog if you want to know about accomplishments, believes record for most B’s in a trial (19 total). Thanks to 9 year old Brian.

Seagoville: Have 2 yrs or younger dogs, one SchH1, two BH’s, fun as a group.

South Louisiana: Old handlers with young dogs, couple new members, couple of BH’s, process of getting new dogs, like to have fun and Norma working a 140lb dog got a BH.

Texas Working Dogs: Hosted Regional Conformation Championship, members move, lost some dogs, personal issues, trying to get a hold of a Judge but to no avail, asking for assistance, process of reorganizing, personal triumphs as breeders. Have a dog in Germany Championships breed by Laurie.

No affiliate clubs.

ASSISTANT REGIONAL DIRECTOR’S REPORT: Thanks for support from 24 years ago, loose site with new people, remind yourself how you felt when new, Vickie came out with Aussie, methods of training are changing, hard to find dog for the sport, if you have an issue with something, find a solution don’t just complain…this is why she ran for position, to the person who takes over..remember your friends.

REGIONAL BREED WARDEN’S REPORT: Working on Regional page, new changes, breeding program up and running shortly, clubs need to become more active. Clubs have been sharing tatooers; National Breed Warden heading in direction for each club to have tattoer. Anyone interested in Breed Warden the paperwork is not that hard.

REGIONAL TRAINING DIRECTOR REPORT: Lots of good teaching helpers, tried to be available, thanks to Dallas Working Dog Club-took advantage of me in a good way, great couple of days in seminar. Have a great year.

REGIONAL TREASURER REPORT: Absent. No report sent. Julia Grayson stated need $50 from each club.

REGIONAL ELECTIONS:

Regional Director:

Motion from Vickie to open floor for nominating. Chris nominates Randall, Louise seconds. No other nominations. Danny Grayson motion to close. Betty Thomas seconds. By acclamation Randall elected.

Thanks from Randall for being elected, hopes it runs smoothly.

Assistant Regional Director:

Hilde Taylor nominates Charles, Laurie seconds. Louise nominates Steve Cobb, Chris seconds. Charles has floor: member of OG North Texas, has young dog, good people skills, wants to address growth, age range in upper 30’s, wants continuity, getting information out in a timely fashion and to move forward. Steve Cobb has floor: total of 8 or 9 years, taken puppy to SchH3/FH, gets along with anybody, would assist Regional Director.

Motion for questions: Danny Grayson states pleasure laying tracks for Steve knows he is an excellent trainer. Hilde states Charles is long winded, helps her club, helps get dogs titled and has business savvy. Danny makes motion to cease, Chris seconds.

Regional Breed Warden:

Betty Thomas nominates Jennifer, Chris seconds. Hilde nominates Rene, Charles seconds. Floor open to Rene: enjoyed learning about position, would like to continue, was approached to host 2006 National Seiger Show, has a host hotel, if reelected would like to finish up process. Region getting better, more people involved in breeding program, but lot of work needs to be done. Floor open to Jennifer: active in breed on show line side, needs help with working lines, has worked on regional/club level to further the breed, not a trainer and ready to work.

Motion for questions: Betty states Jennifer will be helpful, good relationships with Koermiesters. Laurie also supports Jennifer states she is readily able to help, support and is detail oriented, worked on several shows. Hilde states Rene has done well, also works well with National Office and would like to see her reelected.

Steve Cobb won Assistant Regional Director position.

Regional Secretary:

Betty Thomas nominated, second by Louise. By acclamation Betty elected as Regional Secretary. Betty takes over at this point with minutes.

Regional Training Director:

b. Second by Jill Harris
c. Elected by acclamation

SELECTION OF 2006 REGIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP SITE.

a. DFW Working Dog Club nominated by Chris Aucoin..
b. Second by Rob Dunn
c. Vote unanimous for DFW

SELECTION OF 2005 REGIONAL CONFORMATION SHOW SITE.

a. Motion by Charles McCurley for 2005 show to be co-hosted by Central Texas Schutzhund Club and Texas Working Dog Club.
b. Second by Chris Aucoin.
c. Vote unanimous
d. Will be first weekend in December-details to be worked out later.

SELECTION OF 2006 REGIONAL CONFORMATION SHOW SITE.

Discussion Laurie Tollifson stated the regional championships could be held with more than one or two clubs helping. The profit could be split between the clubs. Julia Grayson thought this was a good idea because organizing is a lot of work for a small club. The problem is we must have a regional confirmation show. It is a USA By-law.

a. Motion by Chris Aucoin to defer to Assistant Regional Director and Breed Warden will handle this situation at a later date.
b. Second by Julia Grayson.
c. Vote unanimous.

REGIONAL DIRECTOR'S FUND REPORT:
Has already been done.

REGIONAL ACHIEVEMENT TRAVELING AWARD:
Has been Missing In Action for 3 years.
a. Motion by Chris Aucoin to cease Regional Achievement Traveling Award.
b. Second by Laurie Tollifson.
c. Vote unanimous.

NEW BUSINESS

A.

a. Julia amends her motion to delete all things (motions) listed under 17a on the 2005 Annual Meeting Agenda.
b. Second by Laurie Tollifson.
c. Motion reads with amendment : All things (motions) listed from 1.1 throughout to 14.1 is both deleted and archived. Everything from below is deleted—none is archived. Discussion: Charles McCurley - some of information needs to be archived.
d. Julia amends motion – should be deleted and then archived.
e. Chris Aucoin calls for vote.
f. Jill Harris seconds.
g. Motion passes.

B. 2.1 Julia makes new motion to read:
The helpers of the Regional Championship will be selected by the Regional Director, the Regional Training Director, and a USA National Teaching Helper in the South Central Region to be decided between the teaching helpers independent of this region. In the event that these individuals are unable to select, the Assistant-Regional Director, another USA teaching helper, or another Regional Officer will be appointed.
Motion Passes.

C. Motions by Randall:
1. Dies due to lack of support. Has already been taken care of with deleting of the archives with the old information.
2. Randall withdraws motion.

D. Julia Grayson Motion-because region is incorporated we have to elect a set of officers to the incorporated company.
Motion: The Regional Team consisting of the Regional Director, the Assistant-Regional Director, the Regional Secretary, the Regional Treasurer, the Regional Breed Warden, and the Regional Training Director are officers of the corporation; named in typical corporate fashion: President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer, etc.
Motion passed unanimously.
